As we prepare for CHFA NOW Toronto, we want to remind all exhibitors and partners to stay vigilant surrounding scammers. 

We’ve been notified recently about several scams involving individuals posing as CHFA representatives, offering a number of services, including: 

Fake hotel bookings 

• Fake hotel bookings 
• Attendee lists
• Booth sales
• Other unauthorized services

We want you to know that these individuals are not affiliated with CHFA so please do not book any of the above or purchase marketing/sponsorship opportunities outside of the official links that can be found on our website. 

There has also been an increase in email and cell phone scams falsely claiming to work at CHFA or on behalf of our official partners. Some of these communications may include correct contact details like booth numbers or exhibitor names, making them appear legitimate. However, if something doesn’t seem right, please do not engage and when in doubt, please contact us directly at events@chfa.ca and we will confirm whether you’re dealing with an approved partner or staff member.  

We also encourage you to refer to our Official Service Provider List when necessary as these are the only service providers authorized to work with CHFA NOW Toronto exhibitors.

To make things clearer, here is a breakdown of what each provider is responsible for to ensure you are not impacted by these scams.

1. All hotel bookings must be made only through the hotel booking links on our website. If the hotel requires payment before the deadline, the hotel will only reach out to you if you have not made that payment.

b) Banner Hanging/ Rigging Services
c) Parking Pass

We have tried many times over the years to stop this activity. Unfortunately, these companies often do not originate in Canada and do not adhere to Canadian law when it comes to spamming. If you would report this activity to the Spam Reporting Centre at spam@fightspam.gc.ca, it may help to curb this activity in future. Help protect our community by sharing this message.
